At St Michael's we have a beautiful new altar frontal embroidered by our good friend, Noela L'Estrange, over the past 6 months. She chose 6 Australian native flowers, an Aboriginal symbol for meeting place and the Souther Cross. Noela tells me her school nuns would be very pleased with her because the back of the embroidery looks as good as the front. |

Her distinctive style using stencils and very bright colours make her paintings perfect for a white-walled room filled with light. We were overjoyed to receive her latest work to celebrate Pentecost. |

2 November is All Souls Day when we pray for departed souls. |
This season - Halloween, All Saints Day and All Souls Day - has deep roots. The 1st November is All Saints Day. There is a historical connection to a Celtic celebration at this time which celebrated the end of the (Northern hemisphere) harvest season. |
Halloween is a contraction of "All Hallow's Eve" or "All Saints Eve". The tradition is that on Halloween spirits and related entities roam free between sunset and midnight, at which time the Saints reestablish spiritual order in the world. But if you see any "related entities" arund tomight, the offer of a few sweets will lead to a happy conclusion. |
We have been working with Mark Virtue of Harmonysite to create a new website for St Michael and All Angels. I'm no expert and so I've enjoyed being guided by Mark. We have tried to produce a site that will look good and meet the needs of a church like ours. See what you think. |
